Recent Wedding

ABCarlos

I have not done any weddings since I moved to Pennsylvania. I would not say that I did not want to do them. I was just not actively pursuing them. A friend of mine does DJing and he asked if I would shoot this event coming up. I said sure. I figured it would be fun and I could use some money to buy some more equipment. First I did a Bar Mitzvah celebration, then a wedding. The pics are all from the wedding. It was really fun at the wedding because they had another photographer. He was doing all the formal stuff. So I just got to do all the casual shots. That is my favorite part of doing weddings. I first wanted to be a photojournalist so it just comes natural to shoot a wedding from that perspective. Let me know what you think…

A Little Silly Before the Reception

I shot the wedding with both my 50D and 30D. One with a short lens and one with a long zoom. I think it was worth it shooting with 2 cameras. The other photographer thought I was crazy.

Philly International Cycling Championship Pics Part 2

ABCarlos

Here are a few more random shots. I am not sure if you can really tell the steep grade of this hill. In some of the pictures you can but not all.

Mr Olive

I was shooting with just my 70-200mm lens. I was shooting wide open to get the fastest shutter speed possible. I did not have any filter on the lens. I should, but I bent the rim of my lens a while back and I cannot get a filter on.

I think I Can!

I did also have my short lens, but I did not shoot much with that. I did get some of the crowd shots with that one. I posted some of those in a previous post.
Biker

These guys rode for about 150 miles over the course of the day. I am sure it was a tough race. I know I was tired just walking up the “Wall”

Uphill

In the picture above you can really get a sense of how steep this street is. The picture below, not so much.

Manyunk Race Day

Carlos

I decided to test out my new Canon 50D at the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship in Manyunk. I got some great shots which I will post later. Right now I just wanted to post some of the misc pics I took while people watching. It was a fun time. I think everyone had a great time. Even the guy that got the bucket of water dumped on him. I hope it was water.

First shots with 50D

ABCarlos

I was planning on getting a new camera, I was going to be shooting a race and had another event coming up so I figured I would get it before then. I just happen to be in Boston the week before and found the local Calumet store. My current 20D has a few miles on it. Plus I needed another body, you never know what can happen. So I was thinking of getting a 5D. I have been reading all the hype and I agree it is a great camera. I just looked at the specs and figured the 50D would suit my needs a little more. I like to do more sports and the faster FPS would be nice. Also the smaller sensor would give me more reach on my zooms. I went ahead and bought the 50D. That night I had some time to walk around Boston. I was staying in the Back Bay area so I walked to Trinity Church and some other places nearby. I took this shot just before I walked back to the hotel.

Boston

I was amazed at the low noise of the higher ISO. In no way is this a review of this camera, maybe I will do that later. I just wanted to post a couple of pics and speak my mind about my new camera. I took this picture at the bar I had dinner at. I had some fried clams. Sorry, I was going to try the clam chowder, but I just could not. I had some bad experiences with seafood in the past. I will post some more soon.

How about a cold one?

Here is a shot of a fellow Brother Knight as a marshal at last year’s race. As you can tell, it is a pretty easy job. The hardest part is make sure you do not get run over…!

Monsignor Conway and Deacon Richard greet a few of the runners as they pass the church. Does one of them look familiar?

And Stay Down!

BP Photography
And Stay Down!

Love at first Sight

Eureka! Said the girl who always falls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What’s the bright idea? Well after Monday morning’s big fall I have decided that Alicia Key’s “Falling” is officially my theme song. With a little tweaking to the lyrics it will be great! I wish I could tell you I fell for Juan or some cute boy. I wish I could say I fell into some cold hard cash. Instead I’m posting about my falling and kissing the cold hard pavement early Monday morning. (Looks up and says “Thanks A lot world, but why do you hate me?”) Let me just that walking confidently to the bus at 7:30 am is no longer a part of my routine anymore. Just when I think I’m all that my feet teams up with an uneven ground and says, “Oh no she didn’t Miss Thang!” and POW! I’m friends with hard gravel and the leaves that have fallen from the trees. Let me just say even leaves fall more gracefully than I did yesterday morning. There was no playing this one off either. I couldn’t pretend that I tripped or meant to fall (who the hell means to fall?) I mean I fell and I fell hard! Dust yourself off and try again? Pfft yeah right, I am never gonna try to fall like that again. To make it that much funnier, whilst on the ground I hear this car and in my head I’m like “GREAT! I just need for this car to have someone I know in it!” Nope…Even worse…the car slows down and then drives off almost as if the driver looked at me and laughed! He mockingly slowed down just to get a good look at the chubby girl on the ground. As if I don’t already have to deal with enough mockery in my life. This bastard adds more because he can. I get up and walk ¾ torn and ¼ confident to the bus…it was coming as I got there so I figured the day had just begun and it simply could not get worse. Boy was I wrong when I found out I lost my lunch. I started to smell the aroma of my sushi, pot stickers, and spring rolls and wondered, “Why can I smell my lunch?” Apparently I didn’t close my lid correctly and as a result of me falling my lunch spilled all in my lunch bag. Then I realized my ankle hurt more than I thought it would. I was limping at school and I cut my day short!

I get home hoping to see the damage done to my poor little foot. Much to my amiss I can’t tell shit because my feet are already chubby. Maybe it is swollen, maybe it isn’t. Either way it hurts like hell and believe me the half limp I’m doing right now is not attractive. Yesterday’s fall took my confidence level from 100 to 15 in like 2 seconds.

OUT!

I am ready for the weekend…

Carlos

This wierd thing has been happening with my brain. I think it is a some disorder or maybe I am just a genius or cylon! When I think of something, anything, like earlier I was thinking of the weekend and this song popped into my head. Usually when I hear a song, it sticks in my head, that is “normal.” But I think of a word and some song with that word pops into my head from like this virtual jukebox in my head! It is kinda cool except when I start thinking of some crappy songs which happens as well. Any song that relates to some word that I am thnking about. Like the other day I was asking some one thier name and then I was thinking of that song, “Where the streets have no names”

Friday Night and My Life

BP Photography

It’s been a while since I updated about things going on with me. To begin my “photography career” is headed in the direction I totally wanted it to go. I can’t say I have much business but I have found lots of willing volunteers who want to help me and my portfolio out. I changed a few details on my model mayhem page and things took a turn for the better! I am also doing another fashion show in April and I will be under contract which means my work will be used in publications and websites in San Antonio. I am really looking forward to that. Thanks a friend of mine who I used to work with I am doing my first paid wedding. It is not a lot but I don’t have THAT much experience but I did let her know that. She saw some of my work on Deviant art and liked it. Last but not least I am going to be on TV for my photography. I was basically looking craigslist for models and found this add that caught my attention. I emailed for more info and I was told it was basically having your work put on one of the access channels here in Austin. I thought you would just send them a cd and they did a slideshow on TV. Well the guy tells me there is a 3-6 month waiting list but to keep an eye out for my email since they have openings. Anyway, well he emails me recently telling me they do have an opening coming up and so there you go. It is gonna be live on March 24th at 10pm. They have an official website so once it comes on, for those who can’t see it or miss it. I’ll post the link when it’s all said and done. I am really hoping that this can get my work out there and people will see me as a good photographer. I am using the wedding as sort of starting point for myself, something to test the waters sort of thing. It’s a small wedding so I know there won’t be that much pressure. I do wish it were an outdoor wedding but I will have to get all the practice I need.

I didn’t want to weddings but after talking to many people I was told if I play cards right and I do my work right, weddings are where the money is. I need to make money that’s the bottom line, so we will see how it goes. If anyone can offer some advice that would be fantabulous!

So I started off my spring break in the most awesome way. Juan and I finally went out for the first time in a loooooooooooong time. Needless to say we got super drunk and let me just say that going to Wal*Mart to look for a movie while you are drunk is highly un-recommended. I had to pee and both restrooms where closed for cleaning. Juan was buying a movie and it wasn’t until we were next in line that figured out we had spent all our cash on 6th street. I played it off and took him out of line telling him that I forgot to get something else and we walked out of Wal*Mart. I swear it felt like the world was staring at us. Anyway, it was good times, I had a great time and I would love to do it again in the near future. I just have to get over leaving Jakob behind while I go out and have a good time…I cried and we stayed home for an hour before I decided I was okay to leave.

Now its Spring Break, my sisters are in town, Im off of work, and Im fixing to have some fun!

Toddles

(PS…sorry I didnt post any pics Im rather busy!)
